[Free, offline] IPPT — preflop trainer for MTT and cash (Android)

  • Hi everyone.

This is my first year in poker. I play MTTs, around five a day online plus some live series, and I have a math background. At some point I decided to stop guessing and learn preflop the way I'd learn anything else: drill it until it's automatic.

Every trainer I tried wanted an account, a subscription or a connection. I wanted something I could open on my phone between tournaments, on a flight, with no signal. I couldn't find it, so I built it. It's called IPPT.

    What it does right now

Preflop ranges for MTT and cash: opens, vs open, vs 3-bet, BB defense, blind vs blind, squeeze, push/fold, multiway

ICM mode with bubble / pre-FT / final table stages, and a strict toggle that turns marginal jams and calls into folds

Matrix mode: paint a range on the 13×13 grid and see exactly which combos you missed or added

Mistakes mode and spaced repetition, so the hands you get wrong keep coming back

Stats that show your leaks by position, stack and spot

Poker math trainer: pot odds, fold equity, bluff EV, SPR

Academy: 71 lessons (37 MTT, 34 cash) with an exam on them

Import your own ranges (JSON or CSV)

It works fully offline. No account, nothing leaves your phone. It's free and it will stay free.

Android is the main version. There's also a Windows version: if you want it, write here or email me and I'll add it. iPhone is planned.

Download (APK v4.71, Google Drive): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vOIRBUXlzQ7unHNWMyWd5_TaxtNSbcUz/view

Android will ask you to allow installing from an unknown source. That's normal for an app outside Google Play. I understand being careful with an APK from a stranger: there are no ads and nothing hidden in it, and it doesn't need the internet to work.

    What I need from you

Ranges. To be honest about the built-in base: I collected it from charts people had shared publicly on a file exchange. I don't know where they originally came from and I haven't verified them. So if you spot a range that looks off, say so. And if you have charts you trust and are willing to share, I'll add them as a separate strategy with your name on it, if you want that.

Bugs. Crashes, broken screens, or an answer the app marks as correct when you think it's wrong. Tell me the spot: position, stack, action.

Ideas. What would make you open a preflop trainer every day instead of once?

You can reply here, send me a PM, or email the project: Lgrinder666@gmail.com. Ranges as JSON or CSV files are easiest to send by email.

I'm a student of the game here, not a coach. If a range in the app looks wrong to you, you're probably right, and I want to hear it. I'll post what got fixed in this thread and credit whoever found it.

One question to start: which preflop spot do you still get wrong most often?

  • IPPT features, #1. Preflop training: how it works

I'm starting to describe the app's features, one a day — what's there, how it works and what I want to improve. First, the core of everything: preflop training.

    How it looks:

on the home screen you pick MTT or Cash — the switch is global, formats never mix

"Start training" — questions start right away: hand, position, stack, situation

you pick an action: fold, call, raise/jam

after you answer — a breakdown: the correct frequencies, your pick and a short explanation

hands you get wrong come back more often (spaced repetition)

The base covers: opens, vs a raise, vs a 3-bet, BB defense, blind vs blind, isolating limpers, squeeze, push/fold, multiway.

A debatable point where I need your opinion. Right now an answer counts as correct if the chosen action has a frequency above zero. So for a mixed hand (say 60% raise / 40% call) both actions are correct. Pro: it doesn't punish you in mixed spots. Con: you can pick the rare branch for years and think it's all fine. How to make it fairer — count only the main action, give "half a point" for the rare one, show the frequency bigger?

A reminder about the base: the ranges come from publicly shared charts, origin unknown, and I haven't verified them — if a spot looks strange, tell me.

  • IPPT features, #2. The 13×13 matrix: draw the range yourself

The second feature is the matrix mode. Instead of asking "what do you do with this hand", the app asks you to draw the whole range of one action on a 13×13 grid.

    How it works:

single tap — the hand is 100% (always play it)

    double tap — 0% (never)

long press — a slider in 5% steps for a mixed frequency

after "Done" you see your frequencies next to the reference

The score is combinatorially weighted: a hand's weight = its number of combos (pair = 6, suited = 4, offsuit = 12). It also lists "excess" combos (marked where you shouldn't) and "missed" combos (not marked where you should).

Where I need your opinion: because of the weights, a mistake with AKo costs three times more than with AKs. Mathematically that's fair — there are three times more combos. But doesn't it go too easy on missing suited hands, which beginners mix up so often?

And a question: what's harder for you to keep in your head — opening ranges or defense vs an open?

  • IPPT features, #3. ICM mode

The third feature is ICM mode (MTT only). You train your tournament ranges, but with the ICM picture in front of you.

    How it works:

above each spot you see the table stacks, the payouts, the bubble factor and the risk premium

a stage switch — Bubble / Pre-FT / Final / Mix — changes the number of players and the payout ladder, and with it the ICM pressure

the "ICM-strict" toggle recomputes the correct answer with the risk premium: marginal jams and calls become folds

Where I need your opinion. A few days ago people explained to me that ICM pressure is different for each player and depends on whose stack is against whose. So: is it enough to show the bubble factor per spot, or should the app also show who at the table puts the most pressure on you?

And a question: in which ICM spot do you most often doubt yourself — calling a jam on the bubble or jamming yourself?
